Prom Update
ASBL listed the wrong date for this year’s Prom in the school calender. The actual date is Saturday May 4, 2013. Problems and concerns with this update can be discussed with ASBL advisor Mr. Mike Kidd.

Fun Food Friday
Delicious smells wafted throughout the air on Oct. 19 as various clubs shouted over one another, trying to sell their goods in the overcrowded quad.
This month’s Fun Food Friday began earlier than usual at 12:15 p.m. instead of 12:30 p.m.
Clubs such as the History Club, sold barbeque chicken musubi while the Junior Class Council sold fresh fruit smoothies. Other clubs sold Vietnamese sandwiches, tamales, chicken pot pies and fresh fruit tarts as well.
The main purpose of Fun Food Friday is not solely for the students’ pleasure, but also for clubs to earn a profit.

Homecoming Princesses
This year’s Homecoming Princesses are Seniors Caroline Sun, Kelly Guo, Fionne Ma, Amber Estrada and Victoria Lam.
On Oct. 10, five to six students from ASBL went to each of the princess’s houses at around seven in the morning to congratulate them.
The girls were then dressed in mismatched clothing, while members from ASBL messily painted their faces. When the nominees arrived on campus, they looked a little worse for wear, and sported signs that read “I Am a Homecoming Mermaid,” all day.

Ally Week
Students bustled through the quad as members from the Gay Straight Alliance Club passed out rainbow beaded key chains on Thursday Oct. 18, for Ally Week. Members from the club made roughly 200 key chains which they passed out not only to promote the club, but also to raise attention of the stereotypes and peer pressure the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community face. Ally Week encourages students to be allies to LGBT students. The purpose of the week was to advocate a safe environment and to stop the harsh treatment.
