First, I wanted to acknowledge that I didn’t have a report for the previous month. It was my fault not getting around to it in time, but there was something I wanted to share from August:
Dr. Park and Dr. McGuire from the district office gave a presentation about our schools keeping up with technology. The new district technology plan will give students many more opportunities to use technology throughout the students’ educational career, in a goal to get our students ready for the more modern careers that are now more popular than ever.
But for the board meeting on Wednesday Sept. 12, a few interesting things took place. First, awards were given out for employees of the year, including Ms. Penalora from the High School winning TCUSD “teacher” of the year for the entire district level.
And in addition to that, the board officially approved all of the early admission kindergardeners. It is a new system our district is trying in which students can be placed in kindergarden for two years, once at four years of age, and then the second year being the normal year at five. Our district will earn about $5223.03 a year per student.
The next board meeting is Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Temple City District Office if you are interested in attending.
