In perfect synchronization, Choreo members matched the song’s fast rhythm, performing a spin they spent months mastering.
As the music picked up and the other performing groups appeared on-stage, the Dance Concert began on Feb. 1.
This year’s Dance Concert followed the theme Set the World on Fire. Choreo hoped to show the audience a strong and fierce spirit that characterizes them as a team.
“For the audience, the message is if they feel like they can’t find happiness, a solution or someway to relieve any negative emotions: they are not alone,” Senior Tiffany Cai said. “We all have our own insecurities and weaknesses, but no matter what, we are fierce and confident in our own ways as well. It’s time to embrace the imperfections and bumps along the road of life and set the world on fire with confidence.”
While many routines were fast-paced and added to the theme of confidence, others were slower and more expressive of barriers, frustrations and tough times.
“A majority of the team this year are self-taught, so that posed as challenge to our team and to each of us individually,” Junior Kristin Fang said. “We all tried to improve and learn more about dance because the routines require a certain skill we had to work for. This theme definitely symbolizes how much we’ve pushed ourselves within the last few months and how we’ve all taken on certain challenges to improve.”
The Dance Concert featured elementary school students, Oak Avenue Royalettes and TCHS Auxiliaries and Pep. Varsity Boys Sports and other groups such as Step Club performed this year as well.
