VIP benefits of the ASB card

The ASB card is a special marking on the student ID card that allows the holder to receive discounts at select businesses and dance tickets.
The card was sold in room 311 during registration for $55 which included a planner. As of now, the card is still available for purchase with an extra cost of $5 to replace your current ID card. This year the ASB card includes discounts at local businesses.
“I think the best aspect about the ASB card is that I can not only save money on dance tickets and food, but I also saved money by purchasing the yearbook and ASB card bundle,” Senior Bonnie Zhao said. “The added planner was another bonus for me to jot down my homework and plans.”
Aside from discounts from businesses, the ASB card also offers free entrance to our sports games, letting students cheer for their team.
“The free entrance perk to the games is really nice,” Senior Carlos Torres said. “It beats having to spend $5 each game and end up spending over $30 to game entrances.”
There were some students that had trouble getting to the businesses that are included with the ASB card. Businesses like El Ruizenor, Wetzel’s Pretzels and Twinkle Brown Sugar are further from the campus and require driving to get there.
“The restaurants close to the high school have discounts with the ASB card.” Junior Hailey Villalobos said. “It’s really nice considering that the walking distance isn’t that bad, but I wish some of the places were a little bit closer. I feel that most people on campus don’t have cars, therefore getting to the shops and organizations are really difficult.”
The poster next to 311 advertises the businesses that give students with an ASB card a discount. A few of the restaurants are near the campus, such as Au79, Yum Creamery and Poke Bar, all of which are located in the Vons plaza.
The discount offers 10% off a purchase and sometimes other free perks. For those who are not ASB cardholders, do not worry, there are still places in the Los Angeles County that offer student discounts.
Best Buy, for example, is a perfect place for students to purchase their electronic needs for school. The discount applies to tablets and con and saves students a considerable amount of money. For furRose Donuts 1 (1)ther details, visit the Best Buy website.
Moreover, the Los Angeles County Museum of the Arts offers free tickets to Los Angeles county residents ages 17 and younger.
If you are a resident in the LA county and you are 18 and older, tickets are sold for $16. Simply show your ID to the cashier, and you’ll be on your way.
If you are someone who particpates in or are thinking of being a part of multiple school events, getting the ASB card would help you save money.
However, if you are someone that doesn’t usually attend school events, getting the ASB card would not save you as much money.
