ASBL dances to Disney themes

At the end of Fall Rally, ASBL revealed that the four school dances this year will be based on specific lands in Disneyland. This will begin with Homecoming’s theme of “Down The Rabbit Hole,” which is tied to Disneyland’s Fantasyland.
With the upcoming dance, ASBL hopes to begin implementing some of their newest ideas, including a change in location from the Senior Circle to outside of room 601 and the lunch shelter.
They will also link Homecoming’s party favors with those of future dances in order to create a unified set of items that attendees can collect if they go to all of the dances this year.
Students can also expect a big change in decorations from past years, as ASBL plans to make them revolve more around their Disneyland theme.
“We’re going to be adding a lot of elements that we probably might not have necessarily added before,” ASBL Activities Commisioner Senior Janna Elhawary said. “This is to help relate to a fantasy aspect since Alice in Wonderland is related to Fantasyland, which is part of the Disneyland overarching theme.”
ASBL’s decision to break from the tradition of having an individual theme for each dance came last year in an effort to figure out how to improve school dances.
One of the ideas that stood out was to unify all of the dances under one single theme, which would allow ASBL to reinvent their planning process and make it more fun for dance attendees.
“I think it will be so cute because Disney never disappoints,” Senior Brianna Chen said. “I’m really excited to see how ASBL will tie all of the dances together, and I think this idea will turn out great in the end.”
Whether or not the idea of an overarching theme continues in future years depends on the turnouts of this year’s dances. For now, students can expect to find many new and wonderful surprises at the Homecoming Dance on Oct. 27.
Early ticket sales at $22 with ASB and $29 with ID end on Oct. 5, but students can still purchase tickets for $29 with ASB and $36 with ID until Oct. 26.
