The time is upon us.
We’re popping the question, renting limousines, spending far too much money on dresses, flowers, shoes and just about everything else—ahhhh, Prom season.
Ever since the early days of watching Troy, Gabriela and the rest of the High School Musical 3 cast prance around getting ready for their night of nights, I’ve dreamed about my own Prom and how magical it will be.
However, with Prom comes several prom-blems. My advice: Don’t stress! Take things one step in heels at a time.
Prom-blem 1: I don’t have a date
Solution: Go with a group of friends
Seriously. As much as I hate to admit it, sometimes that perfect promposal that you’ve been replaying in your head just isn’t going to happen. So, unless you know your significant other is going to pull through last minute and sweep you off your feet with an amazing asking, just go with a group of people whose company you enjoy. Last year, I went with four of my best friends and we had a blast dabbing the night away. In the end, it’s the memories that count, not the romance. And besides, why awkwardly slow dance with someone you may barely know when you can clutch onto your friends while belting Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” instead???
Prom-blem 2: I can’t find a dress
Solution: Believe!
After countless hours of scrolling through Pinterest and browsing Windor’s website and still not being able to find THE ONE, you might feel like all hope is gone, but you can not give up. The perfect dress is out there, it’s just a matter of time before the Prom Godesses bless you with it. Keep your eyes, and options, open. I found my dress on the Clothes page on Facebook for $90 while scrolling through my meme-filled newsfeed LOL. I mean it. Look everywhere.
Ultimately, Prom may be one of the most stressful parts of high school (okay, maybe not as stressful as APs and finals…), but it’s also going to be a lot of fun. When it comes down to it, however, what truly matters is if you had a good time, not who’s best dressed or who wins Prom Queen (WINK WINK). This is YOUR night to remember—turn up, make the most of it and you’ll have a million memories to last you a lifetime.
