This will be Principal Ms. Mary Jo Fosselman-King’s last year at the high school. She is retiring; her exact retirement date is still pending. Ms. King decided to take her leave this year after learning that the district was planning to move her to the district office.
Ms. King has worked at the high school for 23 years, nine of those as principal.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” Ms. King said. “I’ve never gotten up in the morning and dreaded going to work. I’ve loved it here; it’s a great school with awesome kids and a great and very supportive community.”
Ms. King learned of her job change on March 4, but did not share the news with teachers until she emailed them on May 20. The news quickly spread through the school, saddening staff and students alike.
Teachers, such as English teacher Ms. Sarah Penalora, will especially miss Ms. King and all that she has done for her and the school’s different departments.
“Ms. King is a strong and supportive leader who has taught me a lot about being professional and considerate,” Ms. Penalora said. “I have always appreciated her open door accessibility and I will miss raiding her bowl of chocolate and stopping in for a chat.”
There is no word yet on who will take over as principal, but the new principal will most likely come out of the district because the job position was posted online on May 26.
