For Junior Ryan Hou, the word app takes on a whole new meaning.
Hou, a self-proclaimed number one Apple fan, is part of their Developer Program. Hou’s developer account allows him to test apps, updates and programs before they’ve been released to the general public.
“The account is good because it allows for users to speak up for themselves and tell Apple what needs to be changed and fixed,” said Hou. “I like how it allows me to get updates faster than others.”
The Developer Program is used to create and manage apps. Although it is most commonly used by program designers, it can be used by everyday fanatics who want early access to iOS systems and updates.
“Apple is special to me because they have a very stable ecosystem,” Hou said. “Their products are easy to use and I’m looking forward to them designing a product that no one has thought of before and would be revolutionary.”
Hou’s life revolves around his Apple products. He uses his products to keep in touch with his friends, stay up-to-date with his favorite shows and stay on top of things for school.
With the company being such a huge part of Hou’s life, it has definitely affected his friends. Although his friends do not understand his passion, they support him regardless. They too have developed an appreciation for Apple.
“At first, my reaction was that this guy is totally Apple obsessed,” Junior Caroline Chen said. “But surprisingly enough, he has contributed to my love for Apple as well.”
His collection started with the iPhone 3GS and has expanded to almost every Apple product. Hou plans to support Apple throughout his life and sees himself purchasing their products in the future.
