Q&A: Dance Committee discusses “Solace of Love”

Rampage sat down with Sophomore Class President Caroline Chen and Vice President Charles Liu to ask what’s in store this year.

Rampage: What activities will you be offering?
Sophomore Caroline Chen: There will be a photo booth, candy bar and variety of games ranging from Clue to card games. There is also a perfect photo opportunity outside of the venue, where students have a beautiful view of Los Angeles, as well as a James Bond car parked in front.

Rampage: What kind of food will be served?
Chen: There will be an arrangement of Roasted Athenian Chicken and Rosemary Garlic Red Roasted Potatoes served with Greek Salad. There is also an all you can drink station and a candy bar.

Rampage: What stood out to you when choosing the venue?
Chen: Well, what stood out to us was mainly how high up in the mountains it was, giving an amazing view of the entire city of Los Angeles and the golf course itself. In addition, since the venue is a country club, it already had a kind of aura that we thought would tie into a James Bond theme perfectly.

Rampage: Why did you hire DJ Herick this year?
Chen: He’s well known for the modern music he plays throughout Los Angeles. Also, the fact that he has played at the Grammy’s after party drove us to really want him.

Rampage: What is the layout of the venue?
Chen: When entering the lobby, the tables are wrapped around the dance floors. Twinkling lights are draped across the ceiling to give a romantic feel. There are creamy olive drapes lining the room.

Rampage: Why did you choose this theme?
Sophomore Charles Liu: Because of the recent revealing of the James Bond movie, we thought it would be interesting to incorporate a real concept into our theme rather than cliche phrases.

Rampage: What makes this dance unique?
Chen: It’s unique because of the way we are doing the VIP Blacklist system.
