The Varsity Football team missed the C.I.F. playoffs for the second year in a row after finishing the season with a 1-4 league record. The Rams finished in fifth place after going 2-3 in the preseason. The team had hoped that new head coach Rob Castaneda and his staff, who were hired late in the offseason, would help turn the program around.
The Girls Varsity Tennis Team finished this season with a record of 8-9. With only two varsity returners on the team, the Lady Rams struggled in the preseason due to inexperience. For new members of the team, stepping up to varsity proved to be a challenge, but in the end they adapted the newly advanced tactics to their play styles. The team compiled a 2-6 league record, but placed third in doubles at Rio Hondo League finals.
The Boys Varsity Water Polo team qualified for the C.I.F. playoffs with a 20-7 overall record. The Rams lost in the first round of the playoffs to Yorba Linda by a score of 10-7 after compiling a 5-3 league record, second in the Rio Hondo League. This year’s squad had five seniors and was very experienced. They also won the Ayala Tournament in August, finishing the offseason with a 10-2 record.
The Girls Varsity Volleyball team ended this season with an overall record of 5-14. Throughout the season, many players went down due to injuries, allowing younger players to step up and gain varsity experience. The Lady Rams placed fourth at the El Monte Tournament on Sept. 13, but they finished the season with a 2-8 league record. The team missed the C.I.F. playoffs, finishing fifth in the Rio Hondo League.
The Varsity Cross Country struggled this season, mostly as a result of their youth and inexperience. The team did not place at the Rio Hondo League finals. The Rams participated in two league meets this season at Lacy Park and La Cañada, but did not attend the Mt. SAC Invitational. Instead, Coach Tomasulo created an improptu home meet, in which the runners competed amongst themselves for In-N-Out certificates.
