Drought Update
As many of us are aware, California is facing one of its worst droughts in recent years. Although Temple City is not as affected as agricultural areas, students still find that the drought is affecting thir daily lives.
In response to the drought, Governor Jerry Brown has recently signed a legislature overhauling California’s management of its ground water supply.
This act will benefit the drought by putting restrictions on pumping in several areas. The effects of the decree may not be apparent at first, but it could bring us one step closer to restoring the days when the drought was less severe than as it is now.
Stussy Sale and Band Car Wash
ASBL played loud music during their annual Stüssy sale held on Sept. 21. Boxes filled with shirts and jackets lined the area in front of the flagpole, labeled with the prices. Along with shirts and jackets, the sale included accessories such as socks, beanies, wallets and belts. Merchandise from Us Versus Them and Undefeated were also available for purchase.
The Pride of Temple City also hosted its waterless car wash in the student parking lot, where they used paper towels to wipe down cars and vacuumed the rugs inside.
Club Day
Junior Kevin Thang revealed a card to a group of surprised students as part of his demonstration for Street Magic on Club Day, Sept. 16. Other clubs set up posters and handed out fliers to wandering students inviting them to sign up.
Newly chartered club The Disney Movie Club also distributed buttons featuring different Disney characters. Returning clubs such as EYES, Kaleidoscope and FBLA recruited more members as well as reminded old members of meeting dates and locations.
Homecoming Court Announced
Senior Princesses Nancy Chin, Emily Stoker, Wendi Wu and Greta Xiong were in for a surprise on Wednesday morning as members of ASBL greeted them at their houses with posters and balloons, announcing this year’s homecoming court.
They will participate in lunchtime activities, be treated to a luncheon, shoot a promotional video and finally, one will be crowned Queen at the football game.
