Di Pilla’s Italian Restaurant
Tucked in the lively buzz of Rosemead, Di Pilla’s is filled with the mouthwatering smell of fresh Italian food.
When I stepped into the restaurant for the first time, a waiter immediately served me a basket of their toasty bread.
The forest-green vines strung across the ceiling and the sound of classical Italian music playing, which made me feel as if I were taking a late-night stroll through the tiled streets of Italy.
For my main course, I ordered their Tortellini Di Pilla. The pasta bursted with hot cheese that blended well with its savory cream sauce. The dish’s peas and ham gave a nice contrast to its heavy cheese influence.
I finished off my meal with a delectable cannoli drizzled with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar. It was filled with sweet custard, chocolate chips and a cherry placed at each end of the pastry.
The regular price of each entrée is around $15; but with a Ram Card, you can enjoy 10% off your bill.
The Book Rack
Located next to Boiling Point on S. First Ave, The Book Rack in Arcadia is one of the few book stores nearby that allows readers to buy, sell and trade new and used books.
Books required for school and popular young adult novels are abundant in towering shelves, along with a bookworm’s dream collection of diverse stories from historical to classical genres.
Employees are ready to help customers search through their thousands of books, which are organized by genre and author and sold for as low as $2 each. If a certain book is not available in their store, an employee can order the book for you.
Although the store may not be the trendiest bookstore around, their wide selection of books in good condition definitely makes The Book Rack worth visiting. With the purchase of a Ram Card, get one used book for free with the purchase of two other used books whenever you visit.
Alexa’s Flowers
Vibrant decorations surround the Alexa’s Flowers entrance and provide a sense of spring any time of the year.
The store’s creative floral arrangements, including one made to look like a teddy bear, are safely kept in a glass display. The florists are happy to customize an arrangement if you are not satisfied with what is available in the shop. Alexa’s also offers balloons, teddy bears and cards for every occasion.
Additionally, the shop can make your homecoming night lovely and affordable with their colorful variety of corsages, boutonnieres, hairpieces and bouquets.
