As the school year inches towards a close and schedules are being set, next year’s ASB class presidents are already mapping out their plans.
Sophomore Class President: Caroline Chen
Freshman Caroline Chen will be continuing her position next year. Her biggest concern will be planning Winter Formal and she is already searching for venues and catering services that fit into the budget.
The estimated goal for fundraising by the end of this year is around one thousand dollars. For now, Chen’s main focus is to fundraise for Winter Formal. So far, dineouts at Johnny Rockets and Quickly have been approved by ASB, while specific fundraisers for Winter Formal have yet to be planned. Class lanyards are a possibility among the ideas Chen has in mind and she is confident in her plans. Chen looks forward to planning Winter Formal and hopes that it will be spectacular.
Junior Class President: Alan Fong
After two years of being Vice President, Sophomore Alan Fong will take the title of Class President next year. One of the focuses he will have is Prom and he plans to have a more organi
zed Class Council. A possible fundraiser is endorsing a florist for a percentage of profits.
“Hopefully they’ll [the students] enjoy everything, especially Prom,” Fong said. “It isn’
t just our class, it’s also the seniors and all the underclassmen that are asked.”
Fong and Vice President Sophomore Rachel Lin aim to have more events outside of
dineouts and food trucks and want to have a class appreciation week with class awards. If the Common Core re
turns, they also want to give the students some graham crackers and orange juice for the test, like what happened back in elementary school and at Oak Avenue.
At the end of the year or start of the summer, Fong and Lin aim to plan out a whole calendar for next year so that they can stay on task and execute all of the events they wish to.
Senior Class President: Calvin Wang
After being ASB Treasurer and Community Liason, Junior Calvin Wang will be stepping up as Class President next year. Wang will be in charge of mentoring and supporting the other two classes in ASB, as well as helping the seniors and providing them with a great last year.
By Prom, the fundraising for the Class of 2015 is basically done, though there is the possibility of a few more dineouts. While the big event needs to be kept under wraps, there is the plan of having a day where free food trucks and ice cream come for the seniors. Wang and Vice President Junior Asjia Fulcher’s goal is to reward the seniors for the work they have done, so gifts and fun rewards for the class can also be expected.
“I’m hoping seniors will be really excited for our plans,” Wang said. “Asjia and I have so many ideas that we want to put into action and we feel like they’re some great new things we haven’t done before.”
