TCHS Looking for Science Teacher
Due to changes in the AP Physics test next year, AP Physics will separate into two classes, AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2. The College Board instructed AP teachers to revise their course syllabi to cover the material in more depth, causing the split.
To accommodate the increased number of classes, administration will work with Science Department Chair Mr. Scott Randles to hire a teacher who can cover both chemistry and physics classes.
Explore Showcases Students’ Art
Five TCHS students, Seniors Annie Chien, Esther Kao, Elena Silvera and Juniors Megan Lee and Vivian Song, showcased their works on April 18 at Explore: the Visual Experience, a public art gallery at the Float Café featuring students from both TCHS and Arcadia.
The works of art consisted mostly of paintings and technical pen, some of which the artists framed for presentation. Visitors could vote for their favorite works of art with ballots obtained by purchasing food or drink from the café.
At the end of the night, Kao walked away with the grand prize: a $100 gift card to Michael’s arts and crafts store. Medtor Inc. sponsored the event.
Students Visit UCLA & USC Campuses
Forty-seven students visited the UCLA and USC campuses on April 1 on a field trip organized by the College and Career Center Club.
In the morning, the students first travelled to UCLA, and alumna Jessie Chen led them on an hour-long tour of the North Campus. They also visited USC, where alumni Emily Lam and Austin Su introduced them to the campus and answered questions regarding college admissions.
The Temple City Schools Foundation’s grant of $1,000 made the trip possible. Club President Sophomore Katie Xiong hopes to organize another field trip with the remaining funds.
