Students and staff sparkle on campus

In the dreary winter weather, it’s hard to stand out, but adding a few sparkly touches to your outfit can catch the eyes of the school.

Dazzling Dancers
If you were at any of Choreo’s performances last year, you may have noticed their dazzling outfits. This year, the same glamour is returning in their costumes, which will be seen at the annual Dance Concert.
“We usually don’t choose to buy sparkly costumes on purpose,” Senior Michelle Cai said. “Sometimes we do because the sparkles happen to match the style or theme of the routine, but a lot of costumes are already made sparkly, because sparkly costumes look really nice under the stage lighting.”
Upon close inspection the makeup may look extreme, but it is the audience’s perspctive that matters. The makeup looks good from there, since the distance and bright lights take away from the boldness.
“Personally, I’m okay with it since I’ve been dancing and performing since I was six,” Cai said. “Others who haven’t had to wear that much makeup before might think that it’s uncomfortable at first, especially having to wear fake eyelashes.”

Nailing the Glitter

The sunlight catches the glittering top coat of Sophomore Laura Zhang’s nails as she walks around campus. With a smile, she proudly displays them to her friends and peers.
“My favorite style is one with more color and more pop,” Zhang said. “Especially with a glittery top where it’s really attracting, I really like that.”
Zhang paints her nails after school, and dons many styles with the help of online DIY tutorials. She spends a lot of time on her nails can be long, but she enjoys it making it worth it.
“I thought nails were really pretty and I thought they were a good statement to my outfit,” Zhang said. “Makeup’s fun, but nails, I get to move my hands around and people notice them.”

Glittering with the Glasses
As a student in Spanish Teacher Ms. Colleen Pieri’s class, it’s easy to notice her bright and varied glasses.
“I’m a very colorful person. If you look at my classroom, you can see that I love color,” Ms. Pieri said. “I like to coordinate the colors of my outfit and I think of my glasses as another accessory.”
Every year, Ms. Pieri usually gets one pair of glasses from Lindon Optometry. Even with the changes in her eyesight, she can still wear glasses from up to five of her previous visits.
“My favorite brand is called Lafont. I love their line of glasses,” Ms. Pieri said. “Almost all of my glasses are Lafont and they have sparkly ones that dress up the outfit.”
