Cycle through some new tunes

As September rolls around once again, get into the new school year by listening to a new and updated playlist. Add these cyclical songs to get you into the groove of waking up for your first class.

“Season Cycle”

By XTC

The music of XTC is reminiscent of the old Beatles style music. The song starts off with an organ and the voice of lead singer Andy Partridge. The playful song is about the seasons and the mystery behind the beauty of each season. The chorus asks the listener, “darling, don’t you ever stop to wonder, about the clouds about the hail and thunder, about the baby and its umbilical, who’s pushing the pedals on the season cycle?” In a way, XTC questions the existence of a higher power, and urges their listeners to never cease their curiosity about the natural world.

“Cycle of Nightmares (Let it Go)”

By E-dubble

E-dubble starts this hip hop song with a slow piano intro. It breaks into an upbeat rap with a rhythmic drumming in the background. The rest of the song remains rhythmic and dynamic. Despite the seemingly dark title, the song has a hopeful message. It reminds listeners that “we all fall, we all rise, we all right, with the bumps bruises and proven to, we all tried.”

“Cycle”

By Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra brings another classic with “Cycle.” Sinatra’s cool voice accompanies a piano and sings about his life. “Cycle” is about his experiences, his ups and his downs and how he gets through them. He ends the song with a hopeful message, “but things can’t get worse than now, so I’ll keep on tryin’ to sing.” This calming song is perfect for doing homework, enjoying a good book or just relaxing after a long day.
