Food Truck Festival
Temple City Youth Committee and the city held their first annual Food Truck Festival on April 27 at Live Oak Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Deitemeyer Passes Away
Ms. Carol Deitemeyer, a second grade teacher at Longden Elementary School, passed away on April 10 at the age of 53 after teaching for almost 30 years. The Sierra Madre Congregational Church and the Oak Memorial Park Chapel held services on April 20 and 21, respectively, to honor and remember the school teacher. She is survived by her husband, daughter, father, mother, brother and nieces.

Fundraiser Update
The highest bidders of the Bachelor and Bachelorette Auction spent lunchtime eating Chinese food with their dates on May 2 in the Media Center. The auction raised over $1,200 towards the goal of $100,000 by Sept. 30 to match funds for technology upgrades from an anonymous us donor. The total amount of money raised is now $13,000.

The list of food trucks included The Grilled Cheese Truck, Gringos Tacos and My Delight Cupcakery. The event also provided giveaways, games and bounce houses.

Earth Day
ASBL celebrated Earth Day on April 22 by making posters made of recycled paper, collecting bottles and encouraging teachers to turn off the classroom lights to save energy. The Environmental Club also set up Styrofoam displays around the Senior Circle to urge food service to switch to paper trays.

U.S. News and World Report Ranking
The U.S. News and World Report awarded TCHS with a silver ranking based on state test and AP exam scores. TCHS is now 103rd in California and 539th in the nation for overall academic performance and college readiness.

Career Day
Students will file into assigned classrooms on May 17 to listen to presenters from various career fields. Career day occurs every other year, and this year’s speakers include over 50 presenters including an actor, a chocolatier and an author.
