“I’m usually an alternate, but at the recent Science Olympiad competition at the Wilson Invitational, I took over some events, and placed first in Microbe Mission and sixth in Scrambler. Overall, we placed third. I felt nervous throughout but I hope we can go to nationals this year.”

“This is my first year in SkillsUSA and I competed in the cabinetry woodworking event. My relaxation turned into panic once we began assembling our cabinets. I made a few mistakes but was relieved that it was over by the end. The most challenging part was making cuts but it was better than what the judges expected.”
—Junior Giovanni Augustyn
“My first Ocean Bowl competition was at NASA JPL against seven other schools. Since Ocean Bowl didn’t meet many times this year, and I had never been on any competition team before, it was a little intimidating but it was fun. Since there’s only five of us in Ocean Bowl, I hope for more members to join.”
