With pushes for environmental sustainability, it’s hard to find cosmetic brands that check all the boxes for eco-friendliness. To help narrow the search, here are some makeup products that will help out the planet and enhance your beauty!

KVD Beauty (Rating: 9/10)

Providing options for lip, eye and face, KVD Beauty offers cruelty-free and vegan products with recyclable packaging, post-consumer recycled materials and refillable compacts.

The Good Apple Concealer in shade Light 109 applies smoothly with full coverage over dark circles and red spots. While it exudes an odd paint smell, the concealer blends nicely into foundation with ease. The black Tattoo Waterproof Gel Eyeliner effortlessly draws with dark pigmentation, however cleaning up is necessary as it lacks precise lines. The long lasting eyeliner wears for several hours without significant smudging, but it has high smearing susceptibility.

More products from this brand are found on their website kvdveganveauty.com, Ulta and Sephora with prices ranging from $10 to $60.

Axiology (Rating: 6/10)

Zero waste and donned in biodegradable packaging, Axiology developed a vegan and cruelty-free blush, eyeshadow and lip squeezed into one multi-use crayon called balmie.

Axiology’s Nude Plum shade provides a vibrant red-pink color that provides a natural hue to the eyes and lips. Applying straight from the balmie, it smears softly onto the eyelid, but building is recommended in order to achieve a bright shade. On the contrary, the Rosé shade brings a light shade of pink that’s difficult to apply and grainy in its use.

These items and more are found on axiologybeauty.com and Ulta. Offered in different sets and individually, this brand charges between $15 to $38 depending on item.

Clean Faced Cosmetics (Rating: 8/10)

As a small business on Etsy, the owner of Clean Faced Cosmetics manufactures products to formulate refillable vegan and eco-friendly products for the face, lips and eyes.

Offering length and dark pigmentation, this shop’s black Organic Natural Mascara is thick but buildable with simple application. This item provides a natural enhancement of eyelashes, not a dramatic improvement. The Foundation Balm, ordered in a light shade, acts as a skin tint with light coverage. When administering the product, it evenly spreads on the face radiating a clean glow, but building is encouraged.

Clean Faced Cosmetics’ pricing on cosmetics is affordable with a $15 to $30 tag.
